- Professor Udai Banerji was awarded his PhD at The Institute of Cancer Research in 2005.
- He completed his medical oncology training at The Royal Marsden Hospital in 2007.
- He has been an honorary consultant at the Royal Marsden since 2007.
- Professor Banerji was appointed as NIHR Professor of Molecular Cancer Pharmacology in 2018.
- He is the deputy head of the Drug Development Unit, where he is involved in running a portfolio of more than 40 Phase I trials.
- He plays a key role in bridging pre-clinical and clinical drug discovery by designing and conducting phase I studies.
- In addition to clinical trials, Professor Banerji leads the Clinical Pharmacodynamics Biomarker Group and the Clinical Pharmacology – Adaptive Therapy groups at The Institute of Cancer Research.
- His laboratory interests include anticancer drug resistance and pharmacological aspects of cancer evolution.
- Professor Banerji is part of the team that was awarded the prestigious American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Team Science Award in 2012.
