  • The Director of the Institute of Liver Transplant & HPB Surgery, Dr Thiagarajan S is a world renowned HPB and liver transplant surgeon who has an experience of 15 years in this field.
  • This Thanjavur Medical College and PGI Chandigarh alumnus has a personal experience of more than 1,700 liver transplants and he has a cumulative experience of more than 3,500 liver transplants (both living and deceased donor as well as pediatric liver transplants) and 1,000 advanced complex open and laparoscopic hepatopancreatic biliary surgeries.
  • He is proficient in all types of complex gastrointestinal, liver (both laparoscopic and open) and pancreatic biliary surgeries.
  • He has been trained in advanced robotic and minimal access surgery at Severance Hospital (Yonsei University), Seoul, South Korea.
  • He has also amassed a wealth of experience at Medanta - The Medicity, the country’s top liver transplant centre, as a Minimal Access, Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant Surgeon.
  • He has to his credit more than 90 peer reviewed scientific articles published in national and international journals and book chapters, and he has delivered more than 50 lectures including plenary lectures in various national and international fora.
  • His special interests include living donor liver transplants, pediatric liver transplants and complex liver resections. He is an avid researcher who has won many awards and has trained hordes of liver transplant and HPB surgeons around the world.
