Dr. K.H. Sancheti, a pioneer in the field of Orthopaedics, founded the Sancheti Institute for Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation in 1965.

He is credited for the country’s first of its kind indigenous knee and hip transplant prosthesis – INDUS.

For his service to humanity through medicine and his exceptional services in the fields of Orthopaedic Rehabilitation, Medical Education and Research, the Government of India has bestowed on him the country’s highest civilian awards – the Padmashree in 1991, the Padmabhushan in 2003 and the Padmavibhushan in 2012.

He was also conferred the BC Roy Award by the Medical Council of India.

Dr. Sancheti has served as the Honorary Orthopaedic Surgeon to His Excellency, the Governor of Maharashtra as well as the Indian Armed Forces, along with holding several distinguished positions in medical and academic institutions.

Over the years, Dr. Sancheti has trained over 200 ortho-surgeons and has offered his expertise to several hospitals across India, especially in the area of hospital design.

Dr. Sancheti continues to inspire and train a number of ortho-surgeons and is the strong foundation on which Sancheti Hospital stands.
