About Doctor

  • Mr Khan studied medicine at Brasenose College, Oxford, and completed specialist training in Plastic surgery in the London Deanery.
  • He was awarded a Wellcome Trust Research Fellowship to pursue a PhD at the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), investigating virally-delivered gene therapies as targeted agents to prevent post-radiotherapy fibrosis.
  • Subsequently, he received an NIHR Academic Clinical Lectureship in Plastic surgery at the ICR, focusing on breast implant capsule biology.
  • His research has gained wide recognition, with awards from The Royal College of Surgeons, BAPRAS, EURAPS, and invited lectureships at international conferences.
  • After obtaining his CCT, he undertook a 1-year fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery for cancer at the Sidney-Kimmel Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins Hospital, USA.
  • During this fellowship, he gained experience in autologous breast reconstruction, sarcoma reconstruction, and surgical management of lymphoedema.
  • Mr Khan is a core member of the oncoplastic breast MDT and a member of BAPRAS.
  • He remains engaged in translational and clinical research related to cancer survivorship at the Royal Marsden and ICR, focusing on breast implant capsule biology, post-radiotherapy fibrosis, and microsurgical interventions for lymphoedema.
  • He is a member of the Committee for Clinical Research at The Royal Marsden and ICR, sits on trial steering committees for national trials in Plastic surgery, and holds leadership positions in clinical trials.
  • Mr Khan has both NHS and private practices at The Royal Marsden.
