MBBS graduate in 1978, later earned an MS in general surgery from Bombay University, gained experience in esteemed institutions.

Joined dept. of Surgical Oncology, Tata Memorial Hospital. Fellow of the Intl. Society for Diseases of the Oesophagus in 1989, worked in Tokyo, London till '92.

Currently the Director of Tata Memorial Centre.
