DR. AZAD MOOPEN

Founder Chairman & Managing Director - Aster DM Healthcare

Dr. Azad Moopen is Chairman and CEO of Aster DM Healthcare. He has a Gold Medal in Medicine and Graduate in General Medicine from Calicut University, Kerala, India and a Diploma in Tuberculosis and Breast Diseases from Delhi University, India.

Dr. Moopen is responsible for the overall business operations of Aster DM Healthcare and is responsible for setting the group's strategy and vision. He is also a director of NORKA Roots and Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation. he has a doctorate He founded Moopen's Foundation, a non-profit foundation dedicated to extending health care philanthropy to the underprivileged. He has served on the board of directors of Aster DM Healthcare since its inception.

Dr. Moopen was awarded the Padma Shri Award by the Government of India in 2011 and Pravasi Bharatiya Samman in 2010. He also received the Best Doctor Award from the Government of Kerala in 2009.

Dr. Moopen has also received the 2010 Arab Health Award from the Arab Health Forum, the 2010 Arabian Business Achievement Award from the ITP Publishing Group, and the 2015 CEO Middle East Awards for Healthcare CEO of the Year.

ALISHA MOOPEN

Deputy Managing Director – Aster DM Healthcare

Alisha Moopen is an Associate General Manager at Aster DM Healthcare. After joining the company as a director in 2013, she oversees the strategic direction and development of the organization, in particular leading the group's expansion into new markets.

In 2018, Alisha was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and recognized as one of the top 100 of the world's greatest leaders in Asia and the GCC. Forbes Middle East magazine named her Alisha one of the Next Generation India's Top Her Leaders and she won her 2018 Khaleej Times Emerging Leaders Award for Healthcare. She is on the board of her YPO in Dubai.

A strong advocate for women's empowerment and mental health, Alisha was instrumental in launching Aster DM Healthcare's Women in Leadership program.

She is also an active philanthropist, director of the Aster DM Foundation, and involved in the Aster Volunteers program for social welfare, bridging the gap between those who want to help those in need.

She is a Chartered Accountant with ICAS (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland) and previously worked for Ernst & Young. She graduated with honors in Finance and Accounting from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

DR. SHANILA LAIJU

Chief Executive Officer - Medcare Hospitals and Medical Centres

Dr. Shanila Laiju is the Group Chief Executive Officer of Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centers, United Arab Emirates. Dr. Shanila's career began in 1994 when she entered the dental industry. From there, she quickly moved into hospital administration. In the process, she gradually became a clinic supervisor, operations manager, group chief operating officer, and is now the group chief executive officer.

With over 18 years of success behind him, Dr. Shanila has contributed to the Group's internal culture, inspired teams and improved performance through people-centered hospital management.

She is also known for her hands-on approach to leadership, strategic decision-making, and financial discipline. This approach has resulted in resilient employees, satisfied doctors and resolute patient trust. Her expertise is also of great value to the medical community at large. She is a dedicated communicator and relationship builder.
