About The Hospital

AyurVAID Kalmatia is a serene and curative facility situated on a lavish hilltop, covering 14 acres of greenery and comfortable cottages overlooking the town of Almora in the Kumaon Himalayan region of Uttarakhand, North India. Almora, established in 1815, is the first British hill station with a unique blend of British colonial and Kumaoni architecture. Kumaon is located at the base of the tallest Indian mountains, such as Nanda Devi (7816m), Kamet (7756m), Chowkhamba (7140m), Trishul (7120m), Mrigthuni (6855m), Nanda Kot (6860m), and PanchChuli (6903m), making it the most appealing mountain destination in the Indian Himalaya and easily accessible from Delhi. This region has a diverse cultural heritage, resulting in an abundance of architectural and archeological marvels, such as the Jageshwar temples, Katarmal Sun temple, prehistoric rock art, charming local villages nestled in spectacular valleys and green terraced lands. AyurVAID Kalmatia is a haven for an extensive range of indigenous and migratory birds, and occasionally visited by pine martens, foxes, porcupines, wild hares, jackals, and the elusive leopard! A short distance from this healing destination lies the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, as well as the ancient temples at Jageshwar and Dandeshwar, the Katarmal Sun temple, and the hill towns of Kausani, Nainital, and Ranikhet.

Disease Reversal

At AyurVAID Kalmatia in the Kumaon Himalayas of Uttarakhand, Ayurveda delves into the root cause of illnesses and identifies the pathway by which they manifest (rogasamprapti). By reversing the disease along this pathway, the approach achieves overall health for the individual. This is accomplished through the AyurVAID protocol, an end-to-end process aligned with NABH standards that is transparent, based on evidence, and documented with a focus on medical outcomes. AyurVAID Kalmatia offers treatment programs for diabetes prevention and reversal, cancer prevention and rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation, muscle-bone-spine problems, neurodegenerative disorders, and digestive disorders.

Revitalisation

Today, stress comes in many forms and affects almost everyone. Consequently, people strive to achieve overall well-being, which can be accomplished by rejuvenating and revitalizing themselves. AyurVAID Kalmatia offers natural assistance, such as pure air, water, food, Ayurveda Panchakarma, yoga, and meditation, while providing a direct experience of the Himalayas. The revitalization programs at AyurVAID Kalmatia aim to restore and enhance an individual's vital and functional health parameters, resulting in improved physical and mental health. The program begins with a detailed consultation by expert Ayurveda physicians, who map an individual's current health status and craft a personalized, comprehensive revitalization program. The program includes preliminary Ayurveda therapies, followed by systemic cleansing and nourishing and strengthening Ayurveda therapies, leading to an individual's natural state of homeostasis and well-being. The programs range from 3 nights to 14 days and conclude with a detailed debriefing and a personalized health plan that includes an optimal diet and lifestyle regimen.

Seasonal Programs

Ayurveda believes that seasonal changes have a direct impact on human health. However, Ayurveda also offers remedies that can be used all year round. At AyurVAID Kalmatia, we offer health and wellness packages throughout the year, but also follow seasonal principles for the most effective treatments. The change of seasons can lead to an accumulation of toxins, which can be treated with the right diet and medical interventions. The changing seasons affect the five elements and three doshas, which can impact a person's physical and psychological well-being. Our expert physicians have developed seasonal treatment modules for various conditions. Currently, we are in the Hemanta Ritu or early winter season. During this season, digestion is improved, and heavy foods can be consumed. However, if the vata dosha is not kept under control, it can lead to various disorders. To maintain balance during Hemanta Ritu, one should follow certain dos and don'ts such as oil therapy, avoiding Vata Vardhaka foods, and avoiding exposure to strong wind.

Other Programs

The health of a person is directly impacted by seasonal changes, known as Ritucharya in Ayurveda. This forms a fundamental aspect of the Ayurvedic approach to treating various illnesses and conditions affecting the human body and mind. Ayurvedic seasons are based on the dominance of the sun during the Adana period (which is typically from mid-January to mid-July) and the moon during the Visarga period (which is roughly mid-July through mid-January), with the wind being drier during Adana and wetter during Visarga. Each year is divided into six seasons, with each season lasting two months. The seasons are grouped into two - Adana Kala and Visarga Kala - based on the Earth's movement. Adana Kala includes the Shishira, Vasanta, and Greeshma ritus, while Visarga Kala includes the Varsha, Sharad, and Hemanta ritus. The atmospheric fluctuations during these seasons disturb the equilibrium of the five elements and affect the physiological constitution of a person, represented by the three Doshas and the psychological character represented by the Gunas. These changes lead to derangements in the bio and psychic elements and leave the person exposed to Sanchaya or accumulation, which is the first stage of disease. With the continuation of seasonal changes, the person may experience Prakopa or vitiation. However, the person can bring the Doshas back to normalcy through proper diet and medical interventions, and Nature also helps in pacifying the condition. At AyurVAID Kalmatia, expert physicians have developed treatment modules for different physiological and psychological conditions based on the seasons for the most effective outcomes.

Devbhumi Kumaon

Kumaon, formerly known as Kurmanchal, is a breathtaking region abundant with ancient temples nestled amidst towering mountains and serene valleys. Its pristine environment, with the Himalayas casting a magnificent shadow, is a natural healing ground for the body, mind, and soul. This mystical land has attracted many legends, from Swami Vivekananda and the Beatles to Steve Jobs. Now, AyurVAID has arrived in Kalmatia, further cementing its reputation as a prime destination in the Indian Himalayas, easily accessible from Delhi. Kurmanchal, also known as the land of the Kurmavatar (the tortoise incarnation of Lord Vishnu), is a slice of paradise on earth. The region boasts a plethora of temples that stand in solitary splendor in secluded valleys by gushing streams, on hill crests, or dense forests, all with spectacular views of the mighty Himalayas. The natural environment of Kumaon remains largely untouched, allowing forests and wildlife to thrive and unravel their mysteries. This makes Kumaon an ideal location for the practice of Ayurveda, with its emphasis on ancient processes and procedures, including Panchakarma and other therapies. The region's religious customs and ancient traditions remain alive to this day, thanks to its history as one of the oldest pilgrim routes to holy Mount Kailash and a major trade link to Tibet. The stone edifices found in Kumaon are uncertain in origin but were largely personal acts of piety by royal patrons of the Chand and Katyur dynasties that ruled Kumaon from the second to 17th centuries. Kumaon is a melting pot of cultures, with an abundance of architectural and archeological wonders, prehistoric rock art, charming local villages, and green terraced lands. Almora is its prettiest and cultural capital. Kumaon is nestled at the foot of India's tallest mountains, including Nanda Devi (7816m), Kamet (7756m), Chowkhamba (7140m), Trishul (7120m), Mrigthuni (6855m), Nanda Kot (6860m), and PanchChuli (6903m), making it the most attractive mountain destination in all the Indian Himalayas and easily accessible from Delhi.
