Prof. Dreinhöfer is a specialist in orthopedics and trauma surgery, social medicine, physical therapy, chiropractic, rescue medicine, osteologist (DVO) and health economist (ebs). Since 2008, he has been the head physician of orthopedics at Humboldtmühle Berlin. He held a professorship in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, prevention and health services research at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin. He is also Vice President of the Professional Association of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeons (BVOU), Secretary of the Berlin Orthopaedic Society (BOG) and Director of Development of the International Steering Committee and Vice President of the German Network of the World Health Organization Bone and Joint Decade. He is involved in numerous international organizations and is an editor and reviewer for international journals.
