- Dr. Prashant Chhajed obtained his medical doctorate from the University of Mumbai, India in 1996.
- In 1998, he pursued a Fellowship in the Department of Respiratory Medicine at The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia.
- He continued as a Fellow in thoracic medicine and lung transplantation at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney until 2002.
- Dr. Chhajed then joined the Department of Pulmonary Medicine at University Hospital in Basel, Switzerland as a Clinical and Research Consultant in 2003.
- He earned the title of Privat Dozent in 2007.
- In 2008, he returned to Mumbai, India, and became the Director of the Department of Respiratory Medicine at Fortis Hiranandani Hospital, Vashi.
- Dr. Chhajed has held several significant positions, including Secretary of the European Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology from 2006 to 2010.
- He served as Chairperson of the Indian Chest Society, West Zone from 2013 to 2017 and as a Governing Body Member of the Indian Chest Society from 2018 to 2021.
- He also held the positions of Secretary, Interventional Pulmonology Group European Respiratory Society from 2015 to 2018, and Chairman, Interventional Pulmonology Group European Respiratory Society from 2018 to 2021.
