Joined Topiwala National Medical College in 1977 and completed MBBS in 1981. Then joined the Department of Surgery and completed an MS. Worked as a lecturer at Nair Hospital from 1987 to 1988. Started practicing surgery in South Mumbai in 1988. Further, learned laparoscopic surgery under the guidance of Dr. Mohan Chellapa in Singapore in 1992.
